Favorite musical artists

As stated before, I really love music. Growing up, my mother introduced me to different types of music. From the classic hits of Motown, R&B, old school hip hop, 80’s punk rock, to my all time favorite artist Michael Jackson. Today, as a young adult and musician, I love listening to Gospel, Jazz, pop, rock, classical music and more. As of now, one of my favorite groups, I find myself listening to often, is Brasstracks.

Brasstracks is an R&B/soul group who infuses jazz, and hip hop with their sound. The group is made up of two members from Brooklyn, New York named Ivan Jackson and Conor Rayne. Ivan serves as the band’s trumpet player, while Conor is the band’s drummer. Ivan and Conor first joined each other while attending the Manhattan school of Music in 2014 according to TheGuardian.com. Brasstracks started to gain notoriety by collaborating with Chance the Rapper on his Coloring Book mixtape, producing the hit song No Problem featuring Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz. Since then, Brasstracks continues to gain notoriety with their original hit songs Say U Won’t, Vibrant, Follow and their cover songs by artists such as Aaliyah, Mariah Carey, and more according to TheGuardian.com.

According to TheGuardian, “Say U Won’t is a successful fusion of popping electric bass, drum kicks, snare snaps, warm horns and synth arpeggios.”
”They’re pretty dope! I like that they are original, and it’s just different. There’s not a lot out here like them” said N.C A&T student Jalen Neal.
N.C A&T junior Kendra Watson say’s “I love hearing the trumpet and the different kind of brass instruments. They’re really cool!”
